We Bought a Zoo
Hubby and I went to the show this afternoon. Kind of a rare occasion for us to go on a Sunday, but glad we did. It was a true story about a guy whose wife dies, buys a zoo, and takes his two kids to live at the zoo in a farm house. It was a very good movie. It is a zoo at our house without the zebras, snakes, lions, peacocks, etc. I can't even imagine. It was nice to see something without all the graphic violence or sex, it was just a entertaining way to spend an afternoon.

Mountain Lion on the prowl
My hubby and brother-in-law have been seeing a mountian lion around BIL's farm. It creeps me out. I walk with the dogs and am wondering how safe I am. I might have to start walking in town and forget the country roads for a while. We are just getting ready to have baby calves. I hope the lion doesn't think he is invited to have dinner. There have been sighting before and some neighbors have lost calves. I just hope the cat moves on.

Reuse, Reduce, Recycle
A friend and I have been working on baskets. I finally finished mine today. I used a sheet I had , I reduced the space required to store the sheet, and I recycled some purse handles to make this tote. I think it turned out really well, thanks to my friend Carol who helped me get it going. The black trim is some black polyester I found in my stash. The inside has a padded cardboard bottom with some material from Carol and more of my black material. So tickled, just had to share.

Hopes and Dreams of a new purse
I found this picture on pinterest.com and have been looking for leather coats to make it. I have come up with two coats and hope to have a couple of good friends do this project with me. I love the earthiness and country look this purse portrays. I think mine might have a wider bottom and maybe not as tall. I found a couple of belts that are really close to the color of the coat. I hope my jeans needle in my sewing machine can handle this project. I will try to post a picture when mine is finished.

Gratitide Attitude
Winter has always been challenging for me. I try to have the "Thank you Lord" talk in the morning when I get up. As an American I am in awe at the luxuries we take for granted. Every morning or evening I try to have a dialog with my creator. I don't know many countries that have the freedom to go to what ever doctor they want and if one doesn't suit a person another can be found instantly. I am eternally grateful for the availability and surplus of consumer goods. I am currently wrapped up in a thrift store comforter from the "The Company Store". At one time it was probably a $75 plus item, I paid one quarter for it. I don't know how long we will live in a land of plenty, but I plan on taking advantage while we do. Our town just had a public meeting about the health care here. Everyone there could stand and speak their piece without fear of prosecution. I sometimes take for granted the richness the citizens of this country have the pleasure of experiencing. Every morning I cruise pinterest.com There are many posts about the USA. I have a board dedicated just to images and quotes about the States. If you have never viewed pinterest.com I would encourage you to take a look. There are a plethora of ideas and information. You can find interests from punk to homesteading, great site.

Stranger than fiction
I have Lyme Disease, Celiac Sprue, and Interstitial Cysitits and was on my way this past Monday-Friday to get these issues addressed by a practitioner in Wichita. I stayed with my daughter and drove 80 miles round trip each day to see him. All went well on Monday and until about three in the afternoon on Tuesday. I started getting ill and told the receptionist I needed to stop and go home. The next morning I woke up with extreme pain and nausea. I called my daughter home from work and within in an hour or so we had made it to an emergency room, loaded up in a ambulance and arriving in Salina for surgery. The docs had determined I had a kidney stone stuck in my urterer and other behind it. The surgeon tried to remove the 6mm, but it shattered in to much smaller pieces. I had a stent inserted. For two days Morphine and I were best friends. I missed two days of my life, but that is also two days of no pain. Actually, it was a nice place to visit. No worries or cares. I was out of it. We drove 4 hours home (I sleep, hubby drives) on Fri. Sat was so so, Sunday it starts in again and I end up in an emergency room 40 minutes from our house. Another round, 1 kidney stone this time. This time I am with it and not in as much pain. What a trip, I think all stones have passed as of today and am feeling better. I am getting a bit jumpy and wonder what my next medical adventure will be!!!!! HA like I really want another adventure like that. I am dreaming of looking down the Grand Canyon or picking up sea shells on the beaches of Captiva or Sanibel Island in Florida. Sounds much more enjoyable. That which does not kill you makes you stronger. Man, I must be one strong body of estrogen by now.

Off to an estate sale today.
There is an estate sale today and I am off to acquire prepper and camper items. The verdict is still out if all the prepper stuff is necessary, but have always errored on the side of caution. Early bird gets the worm so I better get myself around and get to town.

Being a Gemini is challenging
Being a Gemini can be a real challenge. They are unpredictable and always on to something else. I fit the profile to a tee. Yesterday my life was quiet and simple. I took a walk and enjoyed the beautiful 70 degree weather out on the back deck with computer in hand. Today I am volunteering at the local thrift store which I do 3 mornings a week. Due to health challenges I do not hold down a full time job. This afternoon I am off to play with the girls and make greeting cards. I am in to Stampin Up and am ashamed to say I have a room full of scrappin stuff. It feeds my soul and is an outlet for the creative side of me. Sending a card to family or friends that is personalized is so satisfying. Hopefully I will have pictures of our creations of the day later on.

It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
Wow, Kansas weather is crazy. January 5th is wonderful. We turned off the furnace, opened the house up and enjoying spring like weather. It 70 degrees out, AMAZING!!!! Great day to take the dogs (females and sisters Jesse and Jazz for a walk. They love the country and wear me out just watching them run full speed through the wheat stubble. If I only had that much energy.
